I have Toulouse goose eggs from two sources that have been in an incubator for about 4 days. One of the eggs from one of the sources is oozing a sticky foam like substance though the shell. There are no cracks in the shell that I can find. There is a slight sweetish odor, but it is not overly offensive. This is my first attempt at hatching anything, but my grandkids all did it in 2nd grade at school, so I figured " how hard can it be? "
Using a Chinese incubator that I bought on e-bay or about $80.00 with temp control and digital readings of both temp and humidity.
Temperature is stabilized at just under 100 F after 4 days, ranged from 98 to 101 F according external temp probe that I calibrated by sticking it in boiling water, so I know it is accurate at 212 F. This reading is pretty close to reading on incubator digital temp gauge. The probe is close to or touching the top of the egg.
Humidity is between 40 and 70 percent depending on what day and which sensor I read. Incubator reading is always the lower of the two, the higher reading is from the "outside sensor" of a wireless digital indoor / outdoor temp and humidity gauge that is sitting on the floor of the incubator.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
