What do I want? I lost all of my silkies and all but 1 dorking roo during this winter. Guess I am pretty much starting over. I didn't loose any of my Nankins though. Any thoughts on what I want? Does anyone have any of these?

White Houdan
Dorking
Holland
Salmon Faverolle
Ancona
Australian Spotted ducks

Go with the faverolles. I have always thought they were pretty. I have never had them but have heard from 2 of my friends that they are descent chickens. I would buy some. Actually I believe I will. Thanks.

I want Kraienkoppes and Jaerhons right now. lol
I just love variety and since I am not going to be a breeder or get into showing I get to try and build a nice mix.

Salmon Faverolle are very beautiful. Was looking at those once.
Ancona are interesting rumpless.

It is just hard to choose a couple!

Hmm... mine have 'rumps' (if you mean butts and tails).

I have x3 Anconas and I really like them. They are unique. (x2 are the standard almost all black with white spots, while the third is 95% white with some black feathers/spots).

They are very talkative, and let the other chickens know when there is someone or an animal getting close. They don't eat much and have medium white eggs.
They are a little 'flighty', but once picked up calm down (they prefer not being picked up though).

Mine have 'picked back up' again. I'd estimate they are now laying 4 - eggs each per week. There eggs are medium sized (compared to my Silver Spangled Hamburgs that lay eggs the size of a pigeons... really small). The Anconas spend a lot of time foraging and don't each much food.

All three of them did completely stop laying most of December and a good part of January (as did my Hamburgs, and EE's). My 'production' breeds (RSL's, BSL's and RIR's) did better. They slowed down, but did not stop entirely (I went from about 60 eggs/day down to 18 to 20 at the lowest).
