Calcium gluconate gives them calcium of course but also helps the egg pass on through it works on the muscles to help the duck lay the egg.

we found out about cal glu from a member @Amiga when one of her Runners was egg bound the vet gave her cal glu to help her pass the egg.
also @Aunt Angus can verify how well it works when one of her ducks was egg bound.

Oh, yes! My poor Runner was having trouble passing an egg. She was laying down and panting. She was in a lot of pain, and I thought she wouldn't make it. A couple of days of gluconate, and she finally passed her egg. It was easy to administer, too. I am sold on this stuff.

I'm fairly new/2nd year. What does calcium gluconate do? I've got a bloody egg-duckling. You sound like you know what's going on.
