Still egg bound?

Try and get the calcium gluconate when you can. Not sure if using Tums is going to work as well as the Cal glu does.
I also have a thing about feeding anything artificial to my family or my animals and I doubt Tums is very natural. Speaking of the food coloring etc.
I'll add that it's not expensive, either. And I find it easier to administer since it's liquid.

Does anyone have any experience with this powdered calcium supplement? She does NOT like to be handled so it’s been very difficult to give the liquid calcium gluconate. She fights and bites and I know she’s not getting the whole dose. I tried to give it over peas too and she spit them out. It’s basically tums, but without the flavor and coloring.

How would you give it? I have used calcium citrate in powder and just sprinkled it over their oyster shells. Since this says avian it should be fine to use.

I'm thinking I would try sprinkling it over mealworms or peas and hopefully they eat it. I only have one drake so it should be easy enough to separate him long enough for them to eat it on treats rather than in their food.

Why would a duck still act egg bound after passing a soft shell egg? My Rouen hen has been passing 1-2 soft shell eggs a week since spring started and I’m not sure why. She gets calcium supplements in the form of egg shells, oyster shell, and black fly soldier grubs. She will lay a perfect hard shell egg in the morning and then a soft shell egg in the afternoon, then no egg the following day. Like she’s laying the next days egg too early. But anyway- today she laid a normal egg this morning and a soft shell in the afternoon. All evening she was acting egg bound. Lethargic, laying, tail pumping. Any thoughts why? I wouldn’t think anything was left. I don’t have calcium gluconate on hand but plan to get some asap.
I'm fairly new/2nd year. What does calcium gluconate do? I've got a bloody egg-duckling. You sound like you know what's going on.

Calcium gluconate gives them calcium of course but also helps the egg pass on through it works on the muscles to help the duck lay the egg.
