Still flockless

I ran electrical to my new coop finally. Light,outlets on /off switc.
I should have chicks in a couple of weeks. 10-12 mixed black Orpington and Plymouth barred rock is what I’m thinking. Thoughts?

Don’t let the Barred Rocks bully your Orpingtons. My Orpington was like a gentle giant and just made her way through the flock letting nothing bother her. My Barred Rocks were tough customers though. I’m sure they’ll be fine if they’re all raised together but don’t be surprised to see them forming inner groups.

Barred Rocks have a better temperament than Rhode Island Reds IMO. Australorps would be a very good choice to mix with Orpingtons as well if you have them as an option.
