STILL having issues with my Ameracauna's eggs 😤

It sounds to me like her diet is good for viable eggs, which would mean her system may be a 'dud' as you noted. Olive Eggers are not pure breeds, as I understand them, so maybe her gene set is just not there for viable eggs.

To answer one of your initial questions, yes, some birds do have faulty egg production lines, unfortunately. If you're up for it, you can keep trying different things and hopefully find something that will work for her. I'll tag some folks that have been so incredibly helpful with helping me get through the past year with my Mally aka my hen with egg shell quality issues

There are many more but they're amazing

Just a note have you considered pulverizing the oyster shell to the size of sand. It might be easier for her to take it in. I never seen my own hens eat the oyster shells I have out there, but did notice the sand sizes ones were gone and they like picking off the PDZ in the coop.

I'm really thinking this is what it is. I've got 6 other hens that are her age to 2 y/o... they're not having ANY issues. Time will tell...Thanks!

Well there's a thought... I'll try anything at least once 😉

I just might give that a try and see if that helps. I like having "happy" hens... she's just "meh"...
I understand and agree completely. Hopefully something will work soon. I know how disappointing this can be. The worrying about an egg breaking inside the bird is a huge stress for me so I can relate. I'll be cheering her on.

Mally is the only one in her flock with eggshell quality issues too. It's odd how it can be just one of them while the others are thriving and laying beautiful eggs. I like your naming this a "dud". It certainly lightens the stress load :lau :highfive:

It'd break my heart if she got sick...yep, they're PETS. I'll come back to this thread to report any updates. Thanks for the support!!!
