am wanting to candle my eggs in bator. First time hatcher but read well I think. Only problem is i don't want an egg to explode because best room in house is my bedroom for bator. When should I expect to see anything other than the yolk in the egg?

thank you i am so excited this is my first hatch and know nothing about what I am looking for when I want to candle or when i should even begin to try.

Sorry stealing your tread,

. Does anybody know why some eggs have a dark area in the egg when candled?

Am hatching crosses for a guy I work with in exchange for the bator I am using to hatch em. LOL looks like I am back to the middle ages, bartering and all. Any my rooster is a silver phoenix and the hens are a white leghorn, a RIR, and a black sex link.

I'm on day 16. As the eggs are developing do they have a tendency to have more weight on the pointy end?

By
day 7 the embryo has established itself pretty well. You should see veins near the airsac, and a small blob (for lack of a more technical term) possibly movement. Before day 7 be VERY gentle with the egg... you don't want to disrupt the veins with quick or rough handling.
