Yep my chickens are 20 weeks old and still no egg. :( the waiting is killing me.... what is the oldest your chicken was before you got eggs????? Anyone else still waiting!?

How many chickens do you have? What kind are they? I have 5 chickens that are 20 weeks old. Only my BO has started laying just a week ago. I'm still waiting on my other girls

I have ten chickens . I've got 3 golden sex link hens, and 2? cornish rock hens. the rest i think are roosters that are soon to be rehomed.

20 weeks is still really young for everything but the serious production breeds. My flock of 12 pullets is 21 weeks old and I only have 2 of them laying. (Started at 20 weeks) I'm still waiting on the other 10. And some of mine are supposedly super early maturing breeds (Hamburg, Ancona). I thought for sure they'd be laying by now, but they're not.

Also from how I understand it, the big heavy fluffy breeds like Brahmas, Wyandottes, Rocks, and Cochins are very slow to mature and sometimes don't lay until 9-12 months of age.

I think the basic rule is that the breeds bred strictly for high volume egg production like Leghorns often start laying in the 17-20 week timeframe, but the others usually start later.

My friend also has a hen upstairs but it hasnt brought any eggs yet either and the waiting is killing us(yes US).He says that he has had it for about a month(probally a bit over a month)He says that it should start bringing eggs in 2 months time(when it is 3 months of age) so we are 2 moons away...speaking of moons, let me go and take my telescope outside and have a look.

My last flock started laying at 18 weeks not all at once but thats when one pullet started laying. The flock before this one started laying at 25 weeks. All you can do is wait. It will happen. Make sure you have the nest boxes ready & fake eggs in place . You want to have them lay their eggs in the boxes. Good Luck!!!

I have 11 chickies, 3 Red Production (18.5 weeks), 1 BO (18,5 weeks), 1 BO roo (18.5 weeks), 6 Ameruacanas & EEs all 6.5 weeks old. And no eggs yet. The older ones free range all day and sleep in a coop with lovely nesting boxes. The little chickies sleep in the summer house, which is a run with a partial roof.
I'm worried that with the free ranging they will start laying in the yard. We have so many hiding places- 1 1/2 acres and a good deal is wooded. My nesting boxes are prepared and have nice brown wooden eggs in them. But so far I only see a single feather in there- and who knows it might have just drifted in there. The girls don't go into the copp anytime, other than to sleep. *sigh*

Im not the expert of freeranging chickens and getting theyre eggs but maybe you can get a nest for them by(this might be a bit cruel)Knocking down a few bird nests without eggs from trees or make your own for the chickens.

My girls are 24 weeks old and NO EGGS!!!

. I thought I would have eggs by now. I have some that are younger but the older ones should be laying shouldn't they?
