There was a Lab Chow mix that opened our chainlink fence gate with it's nose, pushing the latch upwards, that attacked one of our chickens, Luckily we got there in time. the dog was afraid of people so I ran after it and yelled at it and it ran directly to the gate and tried to open it with its nose. My mom let it out. The chicken had only lost feathers, but the poor thing was in the chicken coop in a corner trembling. I took her inside and wrapped her in a towel because she had dog slobber all over her. After an hour she recovered from her shock and I put her outside. Throughout the day the dog was circling around our property. The next day I was determined to catch it, as stupid as it was, to try to catch a dog with your bare hands. It was comfortable around other dogs so I took my dog out and it was interested in him. I did not catch him that day, but the next day two other roaming neighborhood dogs, who are not afraid of people, were with it and came up to me. I brought my dog out again and while he was out all the dogs were trying to greet him. In the middle of this dog frenzie, I caught the dog by it's choke chain, which should not be left on a dog, and then tied him to the porch. Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. Called animal control they called at 9 a.m. and said they would come get him. they got him at 6 p.m. I was sad about the dogs fate because it is not his fault. If his owner would have kept him in his backyard then this would not have happened. Dogs cannot control these things, they really don't deserve it, but that is the only way to stop these things. There is no such thing as a bad dog, only a bad owner.
