Stinky Acres Farm

Yeah, I don't know exactly why, but I suspect the extra fences, dog activity, and the neighbors with free-range chickens have something to do with it.

We see lots of predators on our property - bears, foxes, owls, hawks, bobcats, skunks, opossums, raccoons, coyotes, cats, minks - pretty much everything.

Just captured this beautiful Gray Fox the other day on the trail camera.

The “neighbors free ranging chickens” part made me chuckle😆

Yeah I follow a few threads and it is hard to keep everyone straight, sorry about that! Someone had a neighbor who completely free ranges (no coop, even) and they had said she had 56 chicks but only 4 were left this year.

I am out in the boonies, near woods and water but for some reason, all I get are deer for the most part.

Saw a fox on a camera just last night (I have about a dozen cameras around the property), hadn't seen one in months, but it was 9:30pm.

The animals seem to follow the deer trails, even a small cat-sized grey fox who could never take down a deer or even a fawn.

The chicken coop is nowhere near the deer trail so that is where my luck is, most likely.

I am even more grateful to still have Delphina. She laid her first egg yesterday and it's GREEN!! I was afraid I wouldn't get green eggs since I never received the Olive Eggers I ordered, but Delphina made up for it.

I love this shade of green!! I'm actually not that big a fan of the truly olive colors , but this is gorgeous.
