Stinky Acres Farm

Awesome!!!!!!!!!! Never had the other two but I LOVED my EEs!!!!!!!! I had a LOT of them LOL some I bought and some I hatched/mixed with other breeds lol
YES! I've had EEs since the beginning. They are so reliable I can't be without them! My current EEs are nearly 8 and 9 years old so I wanted to add some young EEs to the flock.

:frow These will be my first Marans! Anything in particular you love about them?
I have one BCM I got from Meyer Hatchery, she's a hen all unto her own! She completely stands out. She's one of my top free rangers if not the top. She's independant, likes to explore, she sounds like a little wind up toy when she gets moving.

She's a flyer, and a runs with the yougins, and keeps them in line. Until they where here, she was always first out last in. She'll stand her ground to bigger birds. Good luck trying to catch her!

Yeah exactly!!!!! Mine were the first to start laying with my first group and laid all through winter even when others didn’t. And my ones I bred started laying SOOOOOOO early LOL

Wow! It's surprising a dual-purpose breed would have that much energy. If mine turn out like her they'd have to fight with my EEs for the top spot!

Well to be fair she did learn her place, which is somewhere in the middle of the flock. I should say, that she stood up to my Liege Fighters who were the foreigners I brought in most recently who are a head taller. So she was defending her place, and the flock 😁

I lost my Midnight Majesty Maran a couple of years ago. Eleanor initially had severe frostbite of her feet and came indoors to recover. While inside, she developed sour crop and something else the vet couldn't pinpoint that eventually did her in.

HOWEVER, right up to the end, Eleanor laid gorgeous dark-colored eggs in her "hospice" kennel. Her MMM successor, Josephine, is also a strong-willed girl who lays lovely eggs.

Nice job with your Stinky Acres thread; I was just thinking the other day that I hadn't come across posts from you in a while.

Glad your family didn't have to send out a search party to find you and that you created a sturdy enclosure for your ducks.

I'm planning to get one more BCM. It was just a fluke that I got Skylar, because I was looking for an extra bird to fill my order. It happened to be the best choice I could have made. My hope is when I make my next order I'll get one just like her, so these genes can be passed on in my future generations.

This picture looks very much like her, save it has a little more color on the neck: https://meyerhatchery.com/products/black-copper-marans-day-old-chicks
