Bath is not why they smell. The first week or so they are not as stinky because they don't poop as much, but the first week they also don't eat as much. All you can do is keep it clean. I would also try cardboard boxes, and make the light not as hot. put them some place you will not smell them as much.

No advice, just I understand. We were glad when our chickens were feathered out enough to move from our garage to the outside world. It wasn’t a horrible smell just a smell. I definitely feel like chickens are “stinky.”

There are so many great ways to control the stench of while in your home. Alot of great ideas for new and old family members of the BYC. Was just setting and reading all different types of post. Another great use for ACV is a room deodorizer. You can put some in a bowl outside the reach of the chicks.

Unless it's really cold outside, my chicks are moved to an outside brooder at 3 weeks. If it still gets chilly at night, I'll put a heat lamp in there too. We hatch 22 eggs every three weeks (14-20 hatch each time) like clockwork and, yes; they stink. We've used newspaper, paper towels, puppy pads, dry grass clippings, pine shavings and sand as litter; of all those, dry grass seems to be the best odor absorbing of the bunch but the chicks pick at it. We've never had one choke or suffer an obstruction but the possibility is there. It's also as cheap as raking it up after mowing.

My wife used to be heartbroken at putting the peepers out at 3 weeks but she's gotten pretty mercenary about stench abatement because the indoor brooder is in her craft room, lol.
