Is pain the only reason they stop eating/drinking? The only 2 birds we had that stopped nourishment were our two Mareck's cases, which were not going to survive anyway. Never has our vet prescribed or suggested pain meds or aspirin ~ metcam or electrolytes is as close as he ever got to suggesting anything.

All other birds we had that died ~ ate/drank up to their last hour. Even Mini who had ovarian cancer was running foraging around the yard like normal till I saw the stuck egg on her vent & rushed her to the vet where he tried to remove the egg that adjoined the bleeding ovary/tumor. She was bleeding like nothing was wrong but she would have bled to death & he euthanized her. He was as broken up about it as I was cuz he had saved her life so many times before but couldn't then :hit.

Any bird showing hunched up fluffed feathers is not feeling well from something.

Sometimes a little Tylenol is all it takes to give them a helping hand. Some of my birds who are hard moulters are like this. I find giving them a bit of Tylenol helps, I figure it’s like a teething baby - the eruption of new teeth is a painful process, I imagine feathers is no different. I want them eating and drinking during this time.

Also if they are elderly and have arthritis, a bit of pain meds helps them get around better, and eat and drink.

It’s all about ensuring they are eating and drinking and pooping!

Wacky Wednesday

No wattles yet…. I would put her at the same age as the Noirans. 11 Aug 2025 so 14.4 weeks old.

So do we still think a pullet?

When I left there was another egg pipped in the incubator ♥️

Face wise I'm thinking pullet. Again, all of my polish cockerels popped wattles before 10 weeks and had combs by 15.
I think Louis is a bit older than yours?

Just realized with his beard there are no wattles...but he definitely had the hot pink face since before 10 weeks old

But look at how obviously cockerel he is compared to Vuitton.

Of course yours could crow tomorrow and surprise us all...

Glad they have Shirley Jr. Those buffy streaked chicks will feather out something like Chia, Shan, Havoc, Pippa, and Maizie, I think... golden tones, but with some sort of markings.

J names....

Juniper
Jezebel (if she's all over Jr.)
Jade
Josie (or Josephine)
Juliette
Jubilee
