Hello all,
This is yes, yet another thread about my hen Henny penny. After a successful amputation surgery and recovery, I was wondering how/if/when to take stiches out, they appear to be made of plastic, kinda like fishing line.
Is it safe to just let her(my hen) pull them out herself? For reasons, I can't really go back to the vet to get them removed (even though they [the vets] want me to bring her in today)

I took a picture, but its virtually impossible to see them, they are purple and I have a bad camera, sorry.

How long have the stitches been in? Are you certain they are not dissolving stitches? Usually vets don’t charge for stitch removal. Can you go back another day? If that is not possible, you can remove them yourself with a pair of scissors using the sharp point to get under the stitch as you pull up on it.

The stitches have been in about 10 days...

Well, they look like fishing line, so I don't think they dissolve
Thanks

Hey! I took all the stiches out but one. It seems like the knot is be low the scab or something. I was wondering if I could just leave that one in until the scab falls off and then pull it out...
Any thoughts?
