Stockpiling feed before prices go up due to corn crop failures/drought -- how long can it be stored

wow I didnt know there were so many bags on a pallet! geeze! ok.... ignore that! But we are getting 4 bags to fit into each garbage can right now so I know 4 will fit. We were thinking of having up to 8 cans in the barn. We can fit that easily. We have more space that you would belive at this point LOL

No, even though I realize that feed costs will likely skyrocket over the next few years. There's just too much competition for the grain stocks.

Bottom line is that I want my feed fresh, fresh ground. Thus, whatever the price is when I buy (once a month or so) that's what I will pay. The egg customers will be seeing a price increase, if feed goes up 25%. If the sales don't/won't support a price increase, I'll reduce the laying flock, although, I suspect that won't be the case. I suspect the brown egg, free range price will also rise at the supermarkets and our customers should be granted some credit for realizing this.

It seems to me that feed costs would be a lot less than human food costs on the rise. Wouldn't it be better to use freezer space for, say, veggies and other more costly additives? Our chickens enjoy thawed frozen mixed vegetables.
