Business casual is your best bet. I would stick to Blue, Black or Grey. Papers in a folder or expandable file. A skirt is better than slacks...but, only if you have a pair of shoes that go well with the skirt...otherwise dress slacks with appropriate shoes...make sure they have polish on them...no scuff marks. A blazer or jacket couldn't hurt. You'll be great - just tell your story as you - and only you can tell it. More than likely, it'll go very quickly and you will not be asked a great deal of details in the hearing tomorrow...expect delays but be on time no matter what!

Good Luck...you have a whole lot of people pulling for you and holding good thought/prayers for you and your horse.

I'm sorry, I meant to update you all on the media:

Newspapers apparently don't give a care at all. I've kept in contact with a certain reporter who has been taking down information all this time. Told him about the hearing tomorrow and he's going to see if he can send someone out there.

Rescue Ink still stays in contact and is looking into other venues. Until the ownership hearing, I just can't think of anything else to do.

By all means dress professionally. That's what I meant but I meant in a feminine way with dress, suit or skirt and blouse. Of course not trashy. By "helpless" I meant don't go in dressed as a man or as a cowboy or female cowboy. By "helpless" I also meant you can play on the judge's sympathy by playing the female role against the men involved. Of course you should have every bit of evidence available and well organized - which from reading this thread I know you have.

I am a professional business owner, a female with more than one business, competing in a man's world and industry. I worked for lawyers for years as a paralegal. I've represented myself in Federal court against "The Big Guys" and won. I was one of the first female management bankers at our all-male-run bank. I am a world traveller, public speaker, corporate trainer - I've scratched and clawed my way to the top - but I have no qualms whatsoever about playing the girl trump card when and if necessary. Always well prepared, well spoken, well educated but not beyond letting a man help me out if he so chooses because it's quite evident I'm the female underdog (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

So, by "helpless" I mean like a fox. Or, to quote Blanch Dubois "I've always relied on the kindness of strangers".

Found out that the judge is female, I'm not sure how that's going to play out, but it will at least keep things interesting. I'm glad to see another female amidst all of this craziness!

Nope, it was Blanche DuBois in Street Car Named Desire who "always depended upon the kindness of strangers". As a woman who has travelled the world alone, I've often depended on the kindness of strangers.

It's good news to hear that the judge is a female. I think you'll have her on your side. After all, a man stole your horse, sold it to another man, one man after another has kept you from getting your horse back.....makes for a good damsel in distress story if ever I heard one. Especially a damsel who is well prepared with all the evidence.

I've often found that women judges can be tough as nails. One thing, don't let the way you perceive the proceedings are going to influence you. Keep an upbeat and optimistic outlook the entire time you are in there. And you're going to be amazed at the people who show up in court dressed less than respectful. I wonder how they get away with it. You've been given great advice here. Neutral clothes (navy is best) and conservative dress, not much jewelry nor makeup, and you'll at least please the judge when you show up in her court in a respectful manner. I wish you the best, but I'm still made as an ole wet hen that YOU are the one who has to jump through hoops and over walls to get what is rightfully yours back. Sometimes, the system seems to support the criminals. It's frustrating as all (waaay down south).

Give em heck in the most effective way you can, with PROOF! Good luck, hopefully this will resolve TODAY for you. And I would tell your lawyer to explain to the judge that the "justice system" on the outside of her court room is continually stalling you and failing to give you assistance in getting your horse back. Perhaps she can shake them up a bit.
