Seriously, why can't you issue a Discovery and request the horse be brought to the court. Or subpeona the uncle and order him to bring the horse. We issued numerous subpeonas in our case and ordered each to bring all their files etc. Would be the same. Surely the judge could go down stairs and look at Max.

I'm sorry, but every time I check in on this thread I hear a booming voice saying, "... and now for the rest of the story..." Someone, somewhere is lying to you (or at a minimum you are not privy to all that is going on). I promised myself I would not comment further as last time I was basically accused of kicking puppies, but something in this smells very fishy. The things that are happening to you just seem so far out of the realm of what you would think would be normal and fair.

I still think that someone involved in this case is being dishonest with you. I have kept my mouth shut after the last hearing, but seriously I don't believe that anyone is serving YOUR best interests by biting their tongue. I just can't imagine why you are being told some of what you say you are being told. Who was it that told you that you didn't need to even show up for one of the hearings? Whoever that was, I wouldn't for one second trust them. Why at one of the hearings were you not IN the courtroom (didn't you post you waited outside the courtroom or I am I not remembering correctly?)? I have never in my life heard of a court case where one of the parties sets outside the courtroom. Again, so much of what you are relaying to us seems so fishy. Did someone there instruct you to wait outside? Again, if so, I don't know that I would trust that person.

I will again echo what a couple of other people have tried to again recommend, get an attorney. You NEED someone that is truly fighting on YOUR behalf. Now, the last time I made this suggestion, I was told that this was basically saying to "give up". I'm sorry, but getting an attorney is not "giving up". It is the opposite of that. Unfortunately, in this world we live in, sometimes people have to be forced to do the right thing. Sad, but true. I would be on the phone day in and day out calling every attorney in OK until I found one that would handle this for me on a free or low cost basis. Getting free consultations at least with attorneys is not difficult. We recently had to hire an attorney and all three of the ones we cold-called offered us free consultations. ALL THREE and we actually got some great info. in the consultations. Again, if you ever want this to be resolved, I highly suggest hiring a professional to help you. Ultimately, no one is doing you any favors at this point by mincing words and just setting back offering only moral support. Of course, moral support helps but it doesn't get your horse back.

Let's just wait until Wednesday. The DA gave me more information, but I cannot post it. Getting an attorney is not giving up, but getting an attorney to work pro bono is apparently impossible in my area. I have called all over NE OK and NW Arkansas trying to get someone to help. I can only seem to get the initial consultation before they cut me off. When they cut me off they state "We don't deal with horses." I have only found one attorney that would be willing, and it would cost me $3,000. Up front. An attorney is simply not feasible with my wages. The DA is on my side on this, I'm a witness to the state as well as the victim of the state, so the DA is the best I can do at this moment. If this should move on from this area, then I will try and seek out other means. But, please believe me when I say this, I have more information that cannot be shared at the moment that will hopefully ring true. This case has given me the reason to go into law school. There are not many agricultural attorneys out there apparently...but I will hopefully be one of them, one of them that does not suck every penny out of the pockets of those that cannot spare a dime and are instead pushed to the wayside and whose grief is not heard.​

Sad, sad, sad.... You would think there would be an attorney somewhere in OK that is a horse lover that would step in and help you out. I certainly understand not being able to afford one. That is awesome that you are thinking about becoming one! Good for you! I will keep my fingers crossed for you about next Wednesday. I honestly think a lot of what you are up against is the small town good 'ole boy network (even though the judge is female, LOL). I know what that is like being born and raised in a small town. I think I said it before, but will say it again- It is amazing how many people will stand behind a hometown thief simply because of who the person is.

The laws of justice are sometimes so skewed that unless you know someone, are sleeping with someone, are related to someone, and have a handful of cash to grease that rusty wheel of justice, you are nothing but a needle in a hay stack to the system. Makes a person furious that the criminals are the ones who seem to have priority and get just treatment while the innocent are the ones who get stomped on and pushed aside. I used to want to be a lawyer, but I've come to detest the justice system so much that just thinking about it gets my hackles up.

You have the patience of a saint RoPo. Surely this is in your favor somewhere down the line. Still pulling for you all the way, and Max too. And sending bad juju to those who are diddling around with this case, taking their sweet, molasses in January in the North Pole time about it. And I say that with a smile on my face. Honestly, ha ha.

Way back when - RoPo said her grandma was at the courthouse and was told by one of the clerks that RoPo was never going to get her horse back. What the hay - if the clerks are saying that, no wonder this case is dragging on like it is.

We'll see what happens next week - ANOTHER LONG WEEK away!!!!! Good grief is all I can say.
