Stop eating your own eggs!!!

Calcium deficiency is what is happening here.
Extra treats are great. Feeding the shells back can help but it will not boost the deficiency.
Get a sack of oyster shell, and keep a small trough of it for free choice.
They will self regulate, though you will see them tanking on it at first.

I have Suet blocks here at the house. Would those be OK to feed my lovely Ladies and Gents?

I found some more Oyster shell today and they went to town. I haven't heard Happy Chicken noise like that in a while....

The suet will be good for them. And yes, they will make very happy sounds when they are given a suppliment or food they are in need of

The suet block went out this morning. It took a bit for the ladies to get used to eating it from it's holder, but they got the hang of it.

Just to get them familiar with the blocks, I crumbled one and tossed it on the lawn first. More Happy Chicken noise ensued.

SO, even after all the suet and the Flock Block and the oyster shell, I still had broken eggs every day.....

I caught TWO of my Leghorns redhanded both yestersday and today!

i will be culling these two as they are definitely cannibalistic. I watched both chickens peck apart and eat the yolks.

I caught the one yesterday and I only had one broken egg yesterday instead of two. Now I have been checking every ten minutes and caught the second one eating away! It was still warm, plus she was still sitting in the same nest box that she was in when I checked earlier.

So, before I cull them, if there is anybody in the Astoria/Warrenton/Seaside Oregon Area or the Long Beach/Ilwaco/Chinook Washington area that would like two free hens, give me a shout here or at [email protected]. Label your E-mail "Chickens being offered" please. Otherwise they will be dispatched Monday evening.

Creating craigslist and freecycle postings too.....
