I will be getting my chicks in early April. I will be getting them from 3 or 4 places over a period of a week or two. I am planning to get 24. I keep thinking that with this many no one will notice if one or two more happen to find their way into the brooder. I know that I will come across something that I MUST have and is not on my list.

The comment about building the coop twice as big as needed....Forget it. Build it 4 times as big. I built my coop last year "twice" as big as I needed for the number of chicks I was planning to get. 12 chicks turned into 18. I don't have as much extra space as I thought I would. Luckily I did build the run about 4 times bigger than necessary. However, I will be filling it up this year! I also need to setup a second coop. And this is only my second season with chicks. Oops...
