Well that would certainly cut down on the competition.Just an additional tidbit about the breeder: He told me that if I ever decided not to breed them anymore, to kill them immediately. Do not sell them. This guy is a little harsh ever since he won 5th best at Ohio Nationals last year.
Ya actually quite a few experienced show breeders would. Especially older ones. Ask the OP.Because, a experienced person would not say, go kill your chicken, practically.
Wow! Is it that bad?Just an additional tidbit about the breeder: He told me that if I ever decided not to breed them anymore, to kill them immediately. Do not sell them. This guy is a little harsh ever since he won 5th best at Ohio Nationals last year.
Sorry, I should have clarified myself. I meant that they should have thought more about what they said before they said it. Like, I don't ever put my chickens down for a nothing reason. But maybe that sickness is that bad, I haven't really dealt with it yet in my flock.Because, a experienced person would not say, go kill your chicken, practically.
Yes, definitely.Well that would certainly cut down on the competition.
Sorry, I don't know how to put this into words but, I wouldn't say this to someone who is a person who loves their chickens. Do you know what I mean?Ya actually quite a few experienced show breeders would. Especially older ones. Ask the OP.
The show world is a lot different then the backyard poultry world. Lots are either set in their ways or they learned from the ones before them. With that comes the good as well as the not so good.
In the event of a possibly contagious and chronic illness that kill all the birds and undo years of work, that's exactly how an experienced breeder thinks. Its not worth the threat.Yes, but this person doesn't sound very experienced...
Sure I get that but that has nothing to do with if someone is experienced or not.Sorry, I don't know how to put this into words but, I wouldn't say this to someone who is a person who loves their chickens. Do you know what I mean?
Maybe not so roughly/bluntly but yes, it is an appropriate solution if there's a suffering animal that may get all the animals sick. There's a few viruses that look like a simple sinus infection, they can devastate a flock.Sorry, I don't know how to put this into words but, I wouldn't say this to someone who is a person who loves their chickens. Do you know what I mean?
I agreeIn the event of a possibly contagious and chronic illness that kill all the birds and undo years of work, that's exactly how an experienced breeder thinks. Its not worth the threat.
