We have 22 laying hens with roosters and for about 5 months we were averaging and 15 eggs a day. We brought in 10 more laying hens and 3 weeks ago. And we have been barely getting 3 eggs. They seem to all be getting along. I do think the chickens 10 new laying hens we recently purchased were old and barely laying. I have not noticed anything different in their behavior other than the eggs. Poop looks normal to me so I didn’t think sickness. It’s has been 90 degrees but have had access to water and shade. At a loss on what it could be. We have added chickens before and never had a problem.

Hi there, we need more info to trouble shoot.
Did you quarantine the new birds?
What do you feed?
Are they soft molting?
Any sign of mites or lice?
Anything that could disturb them? Dogs barking, new things, noise?
We did not quarantine the new birds after the fact we realized we should have! We feed a mix of layer and all flock as well as table scraps. The new chickens are molting a bit. I assume it’s is because the guys sold us old chickens. The new chickens are red sex links and he said they are only 1yr. I’m assuming 2-3yr. We had one of the new ones die this morning unfortunately. No signs of mites or lice. Nothing new that could have disturbed them.

Forgot to add we also have oyster shell as option for our laying hens.
