Last week we added a new hen to our flock. All of our other chickens are still too young to lay (most are around 12 weeks) but this girl we just acquired has been laying for a few weeks. She laid an egg the day after we got her and continued daily until the 7th day when she stopped altogether. Could it just be a delayed response to the move? Or is there something else I could do for her? I have no experience with chickens not laying :/ thanks in advance!

My 2 BSL's are on strike. It all started when one of them started brooding. I isolated her to a temporary cage for 3 days. At the same time I removed the 2 fake eggs from the nesting box, which have been their for 45 days, they had up to this time laid 75 eggs. I put her back in the coop with her sister, and there has been no brooding-and no eggs from either of them. Are they on strike?

Mine is back to laying again after a three day hiatus. I'm glad she seems to be doing well! I hope your ladies get figured out Flachickman!! Like I said,I have no experience with this but I wish I could help :(

Well, today is day 4 that the girls aren't giving up any eggs. The good thing is they are not brooding. So I'll just have to wait for Mother nature to kick start their egg machine. I must confess that I put the mock eggs back in the nesting box, at the insistence of my wife who feels sorry for the girls. The further adventures of "The egg and I" will continue tomorrow. Or should I call it "As the egg turns" ,or " The young and the eggless" I know .....enough. : )

Lol@ reference to soap operas!!!
Could the pullet be starting her molting?!?!??

There are a lot of small fluffy feathers around, the girls are 33 weeks old , is tis a common occurance? and does molting equal no eggs? As you may guess, these are my first chickens.
