Storage room in 8x6 coop

I'd want it to store a metal trash can to protect feed from rats. Shelves above that, perhaps. I realize you said that you have no plans to store the feed in the container, but that means your door needs to be perfectly fit to keep rodents out. A metal trash can just makes sense to me.

Beyond that I don't really keep any tools in the coop so I put my storage elsewhere.
The thing about rats is they scurry along flat surfaces until they find an opening or wall to climb up, i plan on putting the floor 6” above the ground, hopefully i have no problem with mice

P.S. If this is for your parents and they are starting to have any physical challenges, it would be advisable to locate nests in such a way that they can collect eggs without bending. Likewise for feeders, etc -- make tending the birds easy because we who are old enough to have adult kids are often a bit creaky in the joints. :D
HAHAH my dad could agree to that 😂😂

That 6" will make a great place for rodents to nest....
...and a rat can easily jump 6".
I've seen a mouse climb up a fairly smooth concrete block wall.

Correction, plans changed so the floor is going to be 10” above the ground. I’m not really worried about rodents in the first place. I’ve never had a problem with my other coop that’s pretty much on the ground and it’s in the same environment as the new one we’re building.

If they’re going to get into feed, I’m sure they’ll try to get into the run first where the food is

Yes. And rats can smell. And chew through wood. I agree, long term, this could end up being a rat nest. A metal can will solve this. But OP doesn't seem to want one.
Yet i’ve never had a problem in my other basically on the ground coop. Like i said in my other comment, If they’re going to get food, it’s probably going to be in run where the actual feeders are.

And i never wanted help with my feed and how to store it. I asked about a storage room.

We keep our chicken supplies in the basement.. The coop is too small for storage. A 50 pound bag of feed fits into two 5 gallon buckets. We also store dog food in buckets. In the basement we occasionally get mice, but traps and the dog keep this under control. The pitchers on top of the buckets are used to transport water and feed to the run. Easier on the back than lugging the feeder and water bucket. 50 pounds lasts about a month. Note the writing, we track purchase dates of feed. The setup shown measure 14" deep x 28" wide x 48" tall.

Thank you! I guess people forget that there's a thing called reworking an idea and setting traps LOL.

We offer help here, and I'm sorry if it wasn't the help you wanted. You asked about a storage room. My answer was going to be 'big enough to fit a trash can'. But hey, tell people trying to help not to, that works too.
