Thats what I was going to point out, Its not necessarily the feed store thats lying to you, but the hatcheries lying through false advertisement selling their EEs as Ameraucanas or Araucanas, and so the feedstores are also the victims from being misinformed by what hatcheries are selling and if they dont know anybetter themselves as you didnt, then thats what they believe and sell them as and the buyer is led to believe that as well. And then gets on a site like this and finds out the truth and think the feed store is the one to blame when its the hatchery.
And something that I think would be hilarious even if it did no good would be that we currently have 75,825 members here and if everyone of us could in one day send emails to these hatcheries that are advertising as such and blow up their email inboxes telling them that people get ticked over false advertisement, maybe there would be a slight change they might listen to this many of us and start advertising correctly.
Not to say there is anything wrong with EEs, some people love them and if they work for you then great, but they should be advertised as such and I just think it is like a slap in the face to the few real Ameraucanas and Araucana breeders out there when they work hard to keep the breed standards up and the hatcheries are selling mutty looking EEs as the same thing. And really its the same with most breeds that hatcheries carry
good idea...but then what happens to the thousands of breeder EE's in these hatcheries?
You need to get a hold of chickielady...she was just saying the same thing but about RIW's...and how IDEAL is selling them as single combed!
they cans still breed and sell them as far as I'm concerned, they should just simply sell them as Easter Eggers and not Ameraucanas or Araucanas
And yep, the same with the hatchery RIWs, Since hatchery RIRs are more correctly called Production Reds and are no more of a Real RIR than a hatchery RIW is a Real RC RIW, I think the hatchery single comed "RIWs" birds should be called Production Whites. Thats what I started calling the one I have, I have one "Production White" hen and one Production Red that my aunt gave back to me becuase the foxes were eating them and she wanted me to get the Red before she got eatten too. but they are basically identical in type, egg laying, egg size, egg color, ect, just one is white and one is red and so I think thats what they should be called.
