storm grey chics

my australorp rooster got in with a leghorn hen resulting chics r storm grey with slate legs i thought this would have resulted in austrawhites =white with dark spots ,is there something else coming thru in these chics?

is the leghorn a white one?...

let say its a white one...

the slate shanks/legs on the chick means you have a hen(shank pigmentation is a sex linked trait) white leghorns are know to carry dominant white with alot of other genes like Blue, Barring and mottling, some may carry only blue and dominant white that depends on the line, if your hen looked white it could also be that she has one copy of dominant white and one copy of blue, when crossed with the black australorp the dominant white gene was to passed to the chick but the blue gene did....
