Smokey is finally out of that teen stage *THANK GOD* she warmed up to me again! she goes everywhere with me! doesn't g crazy when i pick her up.....she just sit there and stays calm. the other day i was fixing the bottom of there coop and guess were Smokey was...she was right their in between my legs!!! She loves her momma! I've even took her out of the coop with her on my shoulder and guess what she did...she stayed on my shoulder instead of flying off to eat the grass and bugs. I think she knows that I'm stressed and need a companion. But thanks to Smokey Toe I've came out of my shell. Without her I wouldn't know what in the world would I do I think of her as my therapy she is what i go to when i need her! we are inseprable!we have a bond that no one can explain except me!

so tell me you chicken stories...what chicken helps you the when your down!

For the roo attacking....ideally the others will stand up to him. What if you gave them the water bottle to squirt him? I'd hope you punishing him with the other humans there would do the trick. My Dad had the issue of my older roo attacking while I was gone...til he figured out to give them food & he was distracted. Granted, he was trying to gather eggs when he was being attacked.

Uh-oh.....hats is growing up. Is the other roo showing aggression to hats now?  Awe...he got the popular girl! Good for him!

Thanks! The australorp is not showing much aggresion, except for if hats tries to do something serious. I will try the waterbottle idea.
Thank you for saying they're beautiful.

These are the babies that I ordered from Ideal with the 6-29 hatch date. I'm really happy with how they've turned out.

Einstein has a bald spot that I keep putting stuff on & have to reapply daily at a minimum! The little bugger doesn't want me to do it, hates the stuff. He's going around like there's zilch wrong with his head. I tried to put him in with Sherlock, not a smart move. So he's running around happily partly bald. I keep an eye on it to be certain no problems develop.

It's weird how close their markings are & everything. I know the standard everyone tries to reach, but wow.

How cute! Hats used to run around bald too. Try wound kote or blue kote. It worked for me. Just keep repeating spraying him everyday until they stop.

Glad smokey was able to help!:) Hats is like my therapy chicken. He roosts on my arm, and whenever guests come over, he tries to wave at them, then shakes hands. *so cute!*

i'm starting to see if i can get sherlock to recognize his name. though i think i read somewhere that for chicks it should be single syllable commands, etc. have to go hunting for that again about training them. figure since he's hanging inside might was well do something & i like your shake hands bit with hats. so we'll see....i am planning to move him outside soon as i can get myself in motion on that project. sigh...too many to do.

Hi!
glad he's not showing much. hats will learn or the australorp will. i just had a lesson with an oegb about not taking food from my bun or pecking at her. sigh. he's a total brat.

i've hen healer & no peck which i think is the same kind of stuff. problem is that he's onto me. so its gotten harder to catch him period. i keep at it. i haven't figured out who's the main culprit for doing it either...sneaky devils.

how do you do that?

yes, the shaking hands thing helps people to stop thinking "all roos are mean". especially with the smaller ones.
