Ooh, I like Stan the man!
My main roo's called Heide. That was the last time we tried sexing a chick.
Another of my roo's is called Miracle. He was hatched out during a terrible heatwave. Two broody hens, 17 eggs, one chick hatched.
We have a Luna too. I got her from a friend, because she was sick. She got better and I was wondering what to call her. Went outside and saw the full moon. So Luna it was, or Lunatic.
And Butterball, a.k.a. Butterbutt because she looked like a butter ball when she was a chick!
Then there's Bella. She was the most beautiful chick I've ever seen. Chocolate and cream stripes. So since we already had a Gorgeous we called her Bella, which means "pretty".
We had a chick long ago who's legs grew way quicker than the rest of her body, though it evened out eventually. But for awhile she looked like a hugely pregnant supermodel, so I named her Twiggy.
My old hen (Kismet's mom) is called Henpecked, because the used to be the lowest in the specking order. Now she's an old lady (not sure how old, we got her about 5 years ago as a mature hen), she's doing the pecking.
I'm remembering more of them now. We had 100's of chickens over the past few years, though only some had names and then usually for a good reason.
Last year I got 6 chicks from a Kindergarden class that hatched them in school, I figured that they might want to see what their chicks looked like all grown up so I made this video for them as a thank you for my girls. There are some Black Australorps and NH Reds that will not be highlighted but their names are all at the end of the video. Hope you enjoy!
Floppy is named after her odd comb. Strawberry was named because she had an unquie strawberry-like shape on her back. Eclipse was named after the white spots on her wings. Claws was named after his big claws.
