Your coop is beautiful, way to go on building that! Do you live in a country area or suburbs? If you live in the country and predators are a concern I'd consider running hardware cloth along the bottom of your coop. I'm in NC as well, but I'm out in the country. I didn't have hardware cloth so I tripled up some chicken wire and ran it along the bottom of mine.

I have 1 roo and 10 hens. Overall my roo is good. Normally now it's a "you stay out of my way I'll stay out of yours" type of relationship. He was really really sweet when he was younger. Every now and then he gets irritable and shakes his leg at me, but I swat him out of my way (it doesn't hurt him, just warns him to knock it off). Hope your roos are behaving themselves!

I do live in the country on 4.2 acres. They like to get out of the sun when they are out in the yard by going under the coop. I ran hardware cloth in the run at the bottom adjacent to the underside of the coop and concreted it. That way when they are in the run and I am not home, nothing can get In the run from underneath the coop.
