chapter 17 "Sophie! Sophie!" Everyone was looking for me. It was dreadful... I felt torn apart inside.
I woke up squacking. Phew, it was just a dream!
"What's wrong baby?" Daddy asked. It was awhile before I actually figured out where I was. Once again, locked up inside this dreadful coop.
"Nothing Daddy... just a nightmare. Nothing more." I felt like I lied, but it was a nightmare. It just felt... more alive and real. I looked around. Everyone was here! Next to me was the beautiful Bell'e, and the showbird Carmen. What puzzled me was, Carmen had such a tiny comb. Pretty off-topic thought, but it was true!
"Sandy," I asked "You know when we were chicks, remember how you interupted my Daddy?" We both laughed. When we were chicks, no one had any manners!
I hopped off of our perch, and I went to servay the nesting boxes. I saw Doe was all alone and shivering.
"Hey, it's okay Doe. I know your sad, but want to perch up with us?" She did look frightened.
"I w-wish I could, but I can't fwy, i'm a silkie." She pronouced fly wrong, but she's just a baby. It was so cute!
Daisy hopped down next. I heard from Chessnut, Daisy was in the same boat. When daisy was rescued, she was rescued with her half sister, Misty. Misty was a blue crested polish. One night Misty accidently got lost in the woods, and the wolves ate her. (True). So, she was depressed without her sister, and everyone made fun of her because she had special needs, and looked funny. Now, Doe lost her sister to some disease, and she is depressed.
"It's ok. I'll sleep with you every night." Daisy said.
A couple of hours later, there had been seven eggs layed. We weren't allowed to go outside- since it was cold, snowy (whatever that meant) and just a mess. Chessnut, Fern, Bell'e, Carmen, Sandy, Jewels, Daisy, and I had layed eggs. We all wondered when this cooped-up period would end.
