STORY

Daisy May squawked something about geese and ducks, and ran back out. "We have to see what's wrong!" Bob says. He grabs Stew's wing to pull him outside, but he would not budge. "C'MON WE NEED TO GO!!" bob cried. Stew sighed forlornly. "I'm too old for this.." he mumbled, and off he went with Bob. When they emerged all they could see was a flock of chickens, geese, turkeys, guineas, quail, pheasants, partridges, pigeons, ducks, and a whole slew of wild birds. "WHAT'S HAPPENING!!!?" Bob cried over the cacophony. The chickens squawked in unison: "PHOENIX!!!!". Bob stood scratching his head. Should he go with the others? Or should he see what this "Phoenix" was? Stew was loping back into the barn. Bob felt it was a lost cause to get him back out, so he started flying opposite the flock.

Suddenly, an awed quiet fell over the barnyard and Bob could hear the rush of wings behind him. He turned and looked up to see the most amazing site.

A massive bird the size of the moon was encircling the Earth. It's body was that of a chicken, but the tailfeathers and wing feathers were aflame. Bob stood there in shock. All the other birds hovered in mid-air.
A bag of sugar was dumped on a chicken. Nestboxes rained from the heavens. Bob snapped back into the real world before his delusional paintbox rain killed him. The bird was landing somewhere in China, but it was as big as it was a few seconds before. A wave of icy heat engulfed the barnyard. Stew looked out the barn door in monotonous boredom. He'd obviously seen this before.

(Golly, I never knew I could write this good...)

Bob watched as Stew just turned and slowly walked back into the barn. Bob looked back and it was all gone! The great fiery chicken and all the other birds had vanished. "What just happened?" Bob thought, "Am I losing my mind?" But, then he notice something on ground in front of him.

White flame shot out of the hole in the egg, and it proceeded to zip and push itself out. Bob cautiously stepped closer to inspect it..

The young bird was bigger than Stew, who was walking over with a blanket.

He said, "Better stand back there son. They tend to be a little out of control at this stage." Bob looked at Stew and then back at the bird, and suddenly had a feeling that this had something to do with his mother the goose.

Stew looked Bob in the eye and seemed to pick up on what he was feeling. "Son," he said, "maybe it's time I tell ya the truth about chickens, ducks, and geese in these parts."
