Big blue. He was the only lavender silkie in the flock. One day Glow felt a strange sensation in her rear end. She sat down in a nest box hoping it would go away but instead out popped her first egg. She wanted to kept it but Berry, a broody hen stole it for her clutch. "Oh well" said Glow.

Glow went over to the lead hen of the flock, Goldenriver. she was so big, Glow had to tip her little head back to see her. "i had my first egg" she explained. before Goldenriver could respond, Berry clucked so loud that it threatened to take Glow off her feet. "my chick is hatching!" she said. yes! Glow wanted another chick in the flock. she only had Bumble, a buff that was almost ready to leave his mother, Light. just then, Glow heard...

The huge human that held us and called us baby. Glow could understand humans and this is what the human said "It's time to get all the buff silkies clipped and clean for the silkie nationals" The Human grabbed glow and...

took her to a thing called a cage. her mother had only talked about cages, but she knew that you might never see your flock again! struggling in the humans mighty grasp, Glow tried to pull free. "Mother!" she called as she was put in the cage. it was so tiny! when the human went in for another chicken, Glow got really worried. what was happening? oh my gosh! the girl was taking out Big Blue!

Glow's father was struggling hard with the Humans, but he too was shoved into a cage beside her. "Glow," he said to her. "we need to find a way to escape!" So Glow thought long and hard, finally, she had an idea....

She got Berry's chick, Popeye, to walk over to the cage because he was small and the human wouldnt see him. He pecked at the latch and it opened. Then..

Glow and Big Blue made a run for it to the patch of woods near by. There they hid in the bushes. Realizing they were free birds the two started to peck and scratch the ground happily, until dark.

They were scared when they realized it was dark, and saw a hawk flying over them, and it started circling them. They ran back to the coop, but all the chicken were asleep. An egg that was not layed in the box suddenly hatched, and it opened the run up for them.
