Straining/constipated 3 week old chick????

Thank you so much. How do you do the warm baths?

I have a dedicated rubber dish pan that I use for my chicken. Run in some warm water, add your epsom salts (follow package directions), swish to dissolve. Place the chick gently in the water - try to get the water deep enough to cover her bum - stay with her at all times - soak around 15mins or so - whatever she will take - some chickens love a soaking, others not so much. Dry well before going back outside - depending on your night time temps, you may need to use a hair dryer on low to dry the feathers.

Alternatively, you can soak rags/wash cloths in warm epsom salt water and apply them as compresses, changing out your rags for fresh warm ones.

Keep us posted.

So the first soak went well. I used lavender Epsom salt, hope that was ok. She didn't mind it. Soaked for 10 minutes, towel dried, under light with preparation h on outside of vent. Going to put out wet food next. Thanks

It looks like your chick could really benefit from more fluids, just like people can when they are constipated. :)
