I guess I'll chime in too, I also have ferrets, I've had freshwater fish most of my life (rams and rainbows now), I have a good sized pond with goldfish, I've raised and released a snapping turtle, crows, starlings, jays, raccoons and a baby mink. I get attached to everything, and even though they were released they felt like pets. This is our mink chewing my finger:

I have had many "unusual pets", my friends and family call me Ellie Mae..lol..I have had a baby squirrel that I bottle fed, a baby deer that I bottle fed, she stayed inside, was housebroken and slept in my bed with me, after I put her outside, she decided to be a dog, and would chase the cats, and even helped the dogs run some cows off that had gotten intro our yard. She then decided to be a deer, after 4 years of being a person and a dog and eventually quit coming come. One night while I wasnt home my dad shot a possum that was in my chicken pen ( Iwouldnt have let him kill it) anyway when I went to bury it the next day, I saw that it had 8 babies in its pouch, so I raised all those but 2. I have raised baby birds, a starling, redbird, mockingbird, and some kind of large blue bird that looks a lot like a woodpecker. Ive raised wild rabbits with an eyedropper, and I found a wild goose one time while I was fishing, a hunter had shot it, but it didnt die, the hunter shot his wing off, all that was holding it was a thin shred of skin, so I numbed it with orajel and finished taking the wing off and nursed him back to health. I found a lot of baby fish in a ditch one time while looking for crawfish to put on trotlines, and I brought them home, along with all the baby crawfish, put them in my aquarium where my mom also had angel fish.....bad idea....the little river fish killed all the angelfish!! when they got too big for the aquarium, Iout them in our pond. I have had turtles, frogs, some baby wood ducks that appeared in my yard one day, Im sure I am forgetting some. Ive also had 2 of those big human pets that lady was talking about, but the first one I couldnt train and he liked to roam so I let him go, this one is coming along nicely though.

Kritter 11, what in the world is that!? It looks like a bunny deer, how cool! I want one. *haha* Where do you live that you find so many crazy animals?

peepsnbunnies, I love prarie dogs! We have them in large colonies around here. With our red dirt, they all look red run since they live underground. My dad calls them 'cherry dogs'.

I had this little chinchilla until last year. He contracted a strange illness and passed away. We loved him very much.

The weirdest thing I have is a Tiger Salamander. His/Her name is Sally and it is 7 yrs old but they can live to be 25+.

I have had a few differant animals.

Mostly what our cat or dog finds in the back yard. :|

Raised many rabbits and turtles. Had a couple of baby raccoons a few years back, gave them up to a rehab to be raised and let back in the wild. We even had a great horned owl for a bit.

Currently have a 2 year old squirrel that my sons cat brought home as a baby. We bottle fed him and now he is part of the family. Here is a picture of him when he was new to the family. We ended up calling him "NUTS"

If you don't have a lot of time to spend with a pet, please do not get a sugar glider! Plus, if you do decide on going with gliders, get two of them! They are extremely social critters, and can die if they get too lonely. No matter how much time you spend with them, if you only have one, they will still be lonely. If you don't spend time with them, they get wild, plus some people are allergic to their urine (they raise red welts all over me when I play with them, but that's a sacrifice I choose to make).

Hope this helps some,
Emily in NC

I agree about not getting any sugar gliders as pets unless you plan to spend a lot of time with them and they require a special strict diet. I had two of them and the female passed and the male had chewed the end of his tail off by the next night. A bearded dragon would be a lot better and you don't have to worry about spending many hours trying to get them to bond with you. They also do scent mark everything including people. The male also dribbled a little pee all over me.

I've owned a blue jay that a cat knocked the nest out of the tree and killed the mother. Also had a baby snapping turtle (was sick along the road), chinchilla, guinea pigs, ferret, African fat-tailed gecko (passed 3 days after Christmas), hermit crabs, sugar gliders, and a few other animals.
