Strange behavior

My pekin used to arch her head, bob up and down and chatter whenever I was in the coop with her. Now she gets a flat "stranger danger" and runs from me. She used to eat out of my hand and was super friendly. She has also stopped laying.

Sounds like something may have spooked her or stressed her out. Any changing in or around her environment?

Does she have any other companions? She may have a problem with trust. Try to remember that ducks are potentially at the bottom of the food chain. One thing I always like to suggest is mealworms. Ducks and chickens LOVE mealworms and they can be an inviting and nice treat for your duck. Btw, here is a website I found that may help. Hope this does help!!

How old is your Duck?....I call it the Gingerman syndrome...They all seam to go through a stage where you become a Duck eating monster...Hopfully she calms down again...Have patience....

If you don't want to read the entire article, one point that will help, is try talking softly of whistling before egoing to her area. Then she won't be so spooked when you come in

She is a year and a half old. I think some of it may be because I have been gone a lot lately, so she hasn't had much direct attention other than my husband feeding and talking to her and the chickens. I always sit in the yard with them and feed them meal worms. I'm hoping she's just angry with me and now that I'm done traveling she will get back to her old self. Thanks for feedback!!
