Thank you, so do I! i am most concerned about his vision. He has an awful time seeing things close up, although he seems to do better at distance, it's hard to say how much of THAT is just compensation from his other senses.
I had a chicken hen (one with MS) develop a bacterial infection in her eyes years ago. Her eyes were SO cloudy. The vet (Peter) gave me some similar meds for her eyes. Took about 10 days for the entire thing to clear up and even then she still seemed to have trouble with long distances. At about the 2 1/2 week mark she seemed to recover for the most part. Give the meds time, hopefully they do the trick!
Sapphire has: No more mouth lesions. Throat abscess is 70 per cent reduced. His sight is almost completely restored. . His crown feathers have completely grown back and are standing upright. He has gained 3 pounds. He is so much stronger. He started making huge gains in recovery just a couple of days ago! Not completely recovered yet, so he has to be on two more weeks antibiotics. The vet does not want to lance the abscess at this point. Merry Christmas everyone!!
....fabulous news!!!!!
In the meantime, though, I dewormed him with Valbazen along with the rest of the flock. I do think he might have face mites again. I'm deworming everybody again today with the Valbazen mash, and then again in ten days. How long should I wait after that before I treat him for mites, if he has them? And would it be better to use the Ivermec pour on or the injectible that he can eat?
