Its amazing how a very round fluffy hen can make herself look nearly flat when sun bathing. o-0

The first time I saw a hen do it, I ran over to see what happened and the girl got up and gave me a dirty look for interrupting her.

When I took my baby chicks outside I carried them in a rubbermaid container and as soon as the sun hit them they all instantly fell over and raised their wings like they were some kind of chicken vampires and the sun had killed them.

Yep, I hear ya. Those crazy chickens have given me panic a time or two.

It was the community bath for a little while. Of course, they move from spot to spot.

My favorite is when they're done and they've put on about 2 pounds of dirt under their feathers. They shake and there goes the puff of dust floatin by....

I found mine at a few weeks old under an herb bush all three flopping around , stretching out wings and legs etc... I also thought they were going into spasms... Then they all got up and started walking and I remembered they like dust baths. right now they are using a spot between two roots close to the oak tree ... they also like it under the 5 collard green plants I have in garden..

Thank you everyone for sharing your stories. I'm very glad that I wasn't the only one to have a heart attack when I saw her doing her sun bathing.
