How does my Buff Orpington/Heritage Plymouth Barred Rock mix cockerel have yellow legs, if white is dominant over yellow?View attachment 2779431

Is he really a first generation BO cross? I would expect him to have leakage.

If he is, your BO has a recessive yellow skin gene.

It couldn't be from breeding mixed breed hatchery birds?
Recent mixing of breeds then crossing the mixes seems more likely then a throwback from an infusion long ago.
How does that work exactly?

He's pretty. His comb, & wattles are huge.

This guy came from same place. Don't know if they are related. His comb is slightly bigger.

Yep, first generation.
He has alittle bit of gold, & golden in the shoulders, plus some golden in his saddles.

Interesting, I wonder how.

Yep, those are big comb, & wattles.

Only breeds I can think of that has that feature is Leghorns, & Anconas.

They're still Orpingtons, just not the ones bred for showing.

I want to get the SQ Buff Orpingtons, but haven't been able too, so I'm just using what I can get a hold of right now.
