Hi,
I was hoping to gain some answers.

Discovered some strange eggs today.
Looked like the eggs yellow was drying out atop and some had even brown mini stripes in the white. Or even like frozen. Photo is from yesterday.

The spots are darker then usual.
Only 1or 2 chickens could have it.
Anyone who knows if the chicken is sick and if we can safely eat the eggs?
We have never seen anything like it.

Sincerely

Mellinda

I think you can safely eat that egg. While some forms of bacteria can be passed from chicken to humans, cooking kills the bacteria. Most chicken viruses are species specific and won't affect you. Most hens quit laying when they are sick.

Mottled yolk....could be stress or illness.
Probably safe to eat.

How old are your birds?
What all and exactly how are you feeding?
Where are you located?
If you are in the northern hemisphere, and your birds are ~18 months or older,
then they could be ramping down production and getting ready to molt.
You can get some funky eggs around molting time.
