Strange eggs?

I have another thing to talk about! Last week a chicken laid and egg with a bit at the top where the shell hadn't closed over. There was just the membrane and some gunk on said membrane. I ate it... all good as of now. Wondering what causes this and if it is an issue, hasn't happened since. They are also ex-bats thanks ever so much!

How old?

Since they are ex bats about 19 or so months. So getting on a bit.

I wouldn’t worry; if they have been through a lot it may just take their bodies some times to adjust. Even perfectly healthy chickens lay a wonky egg from time to time.
