Strange email....

I had intended not to reply to this post, but. How could anyone not know this is a scam?
I recently posted to craigs for chicks/chickens and got a reply that simply said "I think I have what your looking for". My antennae went up like a shot.
The next response to my, "What have you got?" was an phishing line for business by e-mail.
My response was "DELETE".
If you haven't read the warnings on craigs about scams, you should not be posting anything there.

I adverise on CL all the time, the latest scam in my area is;
Do you need some help? or better yet; I have a secret crush on you I think I can help you out.
I get six of these for every ad I post (mind you they are for chickens or cars for sale) Don't ever reply.

Its a scam. They give you a check, you cash it )it will work) you give them the overcash back and then the bakc lets you know they check funds were bad/etc and they take ALL the cash from your account or charge you . Common scam. I get them when I post also. Delete it and all that sound like it. THere was something on MSN or dateline about it also.

I had the same type scam email a couple of weeks ago when I was trying to sell my incubator. They wanted me to take down the ad and they would pay 60.00 extra and have someone pick it up.. and oh yeah they would pay with an official check.

i replied which I should not have because then they have your email. I have to start using my junk email address because after my post on CL I have started to get a lot of spam.

We had a similar email for something we were trying to sell several months ago.

We notified CL but didn't even get a response from them. I think they get so many scam alerts they just don't care.

It's buyer AND seller beware...fer'sure.

Anyone who posts on craigslist should be aware of these scams. As has been posted, they will want to send you a check for extra money. You are to cash the check and give them the cash and the item when they arrive. Of course the check is no good and your bank account will be zapped.

The first tip should be the poor grammar and use of English language. Almost all have a "driver" who will come pick up the item and the extra cash. Just think about it, if they are going to go to a bank and get a cashiers check, or "official" check why not just bring cash and why does the "check" always have to be for more money than the asking price? This is becoming a very common scam.

dON'T SELL IT TO HIM:old! we had a set of beds for sale and we had a E-mail just like it and the guy tried to get us to give him credit card numbers!
