Strange Faverolles chicks...

last year my broody hen tossed an egg out of nest so I stuck it into incubator with the eggs that didn't fit under her, turned out the chick wasn't right. if an egg is knocked out of nest before any hatch the hen had a reason for it.

Here are pictures of my four LF Salmon Faverolles varying amounts of smudginess on the back and top of head. Thanks for your input regarding their color.

It is possible that your chicks are still purebred Faverolles. In the US we are really only used to the Salmon coloration, but in Europe they come in all sorts of colors like white, blue, cuckoo, black, etc.

I'd give them a little time, how exciting that you got a rainbow!

I'll just have to wait it out I guess. They are supposed to be Salmon and I was hoping to be able to sex them by their feathers in a few more days. They all look like boys so far (black feather tips on wings), but if they're not salmon then I guess I shouldn't rely on the feather color for sexing.

I have no idea, as it seems to be the same problem with me! I'm just going to have to wait and see! Whatever they will be loved by someone somewhere as they are bound to be cute birds!

Two years ago, I hatched these five Fav chicks. The following pictures are what they grew into:
I had two like this pullet.
Just wanted to add, the two boys were SO gentle that ALL the other cockerels used to go after them. The Salmon cockerel in the ark had to stay separated so they didn't beat him up.
I didn't keep them around only because I had too many breeds then.

That is so exciting! I love the different colored Favs, and had to actually dig around BYC for a breeder here in the US that had different colored genes than Salmon. I found a lovely lady who has recessive white and blue in her flock. And I hatched 5 chicks that look exactly like yours did! How exciting, I'm over the moon eager to find out what color they turn.

I hope in the years to come the rainbow they have in Europe is more common here in the US!

I know this is an old thread, but I am curious as to what happened with the faverolles chicks. What colors did they turn? Did u have pics?
