Trust me, I know my own dog!! My dog is 11 years old, very grey and mixed with german shepard. The imposter molly (lol) is about 2 or 3 and a full lab!

When we came home and Molly's collar was missing, we asked the sitter. She had no idea how it was lost, said that she came by one day and it was gone. She combed the yard for it, but never found it. We do have an acre with lots of leaves, so it's not impossible that she just didn't see it, but neither DH or I have seen it since then.

cue eerie music
duh dum duh dum duh dum...

LOL, this thought did cross my mind. The only thing that doesn't make since with this... why would they wait 6 months? Why not drop off the dog when they first found the collar?

I was just mentioning it because they were both black labs.......sounded funny and some look the same. I would have surely thought you would have known the personality even if they were identicle. I have 2 maltese that are 100% different personalities. I dont even know how they can be the same breed because they are so different in character. This is sooooo funny and i cant wait to see if you get an answer to the mystery of the green collar.

Yes, he still has the same number. He said that he was glad that he didn't get a phone call from someone saying they had our black lab. What a conversation that would have been!!

Uh... no, she's right here next to us...

You have to appreciate the humor of this whole situation!!

Lurky, I can see where you got that idea, but there is NO mistaking these two dogs. My three-year-old daughter can easily tell them apart!

could be someone found the collar and had an unlicensed dog. threw the collar on it to look legal when walking it and it got away. then the scent on the collar led the dog to your house. or....maybe your friend eventually found the collar, and realizing that you dog is getting up in years, decided to get you a new dog and return the collar. she was hiding in the bushes. check your mailbox. there's probably a steak stuck under it!

Great conspiracy theories!!

I actually thought that someone might have wanted the tags to look legal, but all that's on it is a tag that says Molly and has a phone number. No rabies tag, nothing.
