Strange Newbie Question -- DNA sexing

All right, well thank you guys! I did wonder if people would think it was silly. It's one thing sexing birds worth thousands of dollars, another with chicks that sell for less than ten, I know.

I don't want a SQ bird, just PQ from a show line (the hatchery silkies I've seen are so untypey they don't even look like silkies, that's all I mean when I don't want one); adopting culls would be great (ideal really!!). Most culls I've seen are very young and straight-run, I think because breeders don't want to keep them around and have to pay for their upkeep and the like. Do people sometimes cull birds later?

Thank you all, when I'm ready for my silkie girl, I'll just look for a breeder willing to sell me an older pullet or two (such as culls). :>

is there no one who vent sexes those birds? all mine were vent sexed and are exactly what i wanted and needed them to be!
