STRANGE or FUNNY NAMES

My initials are TP. I don't want everyone in the world knowing my last name but it has issues too although I don't mind.

When I was a police officer I ran into some people with strange names. One that stuck out was Roger Rodger Rodgers, Jr. Then there was Shi'thead (pronounced Shy Theed) and As'same (pronounced Ah Sem e) both were males.

My sister graduated college with a "Crystal Chanda Leer". When I was younger, my babysitter had the last name of "Belcher". That family didn't like it, and officially changed it to "Bell".

I went to high school with someone with the name of "Ma-boob".

Not many weird names in my family.

Had an Oral Surgeon named Dr. Payne Ouch!

Knew a set of twins my daughters age named Chastity and Charity. What were their parents thinking???

DH's parents names are George and Georgia Not kidding

I was pregnant with our last child, when our second daughter died. Kaitlyn was 3 days shy of 11 months when she passed away. A friend of the family warned me to not name the new baby after the baby that had just died. I still find it inappropriate she she felt she needed to guide me about naming my children. It simply never had never occurred to me that any other child could take the place of the one we lost. It would have been weirder to name our son Kaitlyn.

Your first name is unique.... I've never heard of anyone else with that name. I think it's pretty cool.

Thank you MFB I have always loved my first name and I thought it was unique too. The spelling anyways and if you pronounce it right. I did just seen someone with same spelling as my name just this year here in the same city I live in and they were born before me same year but a couple months earlier but your right it is pretty rare.

I was not born in eastern Wa though.

Time to revive this thread there was a guy out of the corperate office where I work his last name was Mudd. I asked him since it is an uncommon last name if he was related to the doctor whom was hung for helping set John Wilks Booth's broken leg, he was a distant nephew. There was a NASCAR diver named Dick Trickle, also I had a teacher in high school who's name was richard hurt, he said he never did go by dick, I don't blame him. There was a man whom shopped where I worked whom lived in a senior assisted living complex near by named seymore peters. I pray the old man was not an urologist.

Not so much a strange name, but a strange naming.

Years ago I had a good friend that was named Thomas James Smith (made up name) nothing unusual. He went by Jim. One day I asked him why he used his middle name. He said it was his brothers name. Huh? I didn't know he had a brother. He told me his parents had a firstborn boy and named him Thomas James Smith, then 6 girls. As a child Thomas James died. Then they had another boy (my friend). They gave him the same name as his deceased brother. Creepy I said, Yeah he said, that was why he only used Jim, not Tom.

Imp- I had met his mom and she wasn't "off" .

That was very common up till the early 1900's if you study geneology very long you learn that. sometimes parents have 5-6 kids the same name till either they give up trying or one survives childhood. found 3 or 4 sets of parents did that on my dad's side since the mid 1800's
