Anyone ever have to have a toenail removed? I had one taken off on Friday after smashing the toe visciously under a barn stone - long story - and man, it hurts worse than the toe beside it which is broken.

Not to mention it's very yucky looking. I'm an RN, and I go ew everytime I have to change the dressing.

LOL.

Anyway - just wondering if I was being a baby or if they're SUPPOSED to hurt this much.

I don't know about the pain but it sure sounds awful! I'm sorry and hope it all heals quickly.

By the way? Are you trying to live up to your user name?

My mother, eons ago when she was still a young girl of 12 or so dropped one of those cast iron flat irons on her big toe and it split the nail right down the center.... Welll decades later and lot's of pain she finally decided to have it removed... To this day we all tease her about her Cabbage Patch" toe because once it healed that is exactly how it looks-like a Cabbage Patch dolls head.

I got runners toe last Fall and my toenail ended up falling off...Felt like it was bruised the whole time. My toenail finally grew back.

Well, we're having a picnic next Sunday and were rushing to get our fire ring fixed up, and there's quite a few barn stone they didn't take when they removed the old house at the bottom of the property.

So my husband and I decided to move a few ourselves to use as seats around our fire ring. Two rednecks with a come-along, a pick up and a wheel barrow. The wheelbarrow tipped on the second to last stone. I was lucky enough to move quickly, and that we have a 4 or 5 inch bed of sand around our fire pit.

We did manage to get the rest of the stone off the truck before I went to the Dr., though!

The Dr. asked me what I was wearing while we were moving these 500 lb. or so stones and I sheepishly answered, "Flip flops."

The Dr. gave me a look that could only say "Here's Your Sign."

LOL.

My son, almost cut his whole toe off with the mower, and luckily he it was just the tip. He did break the toe, and he had to have his nail removed. It did hurt for days!
He should have the new one removed also because it didn't grow back right, but he would rather cut his big toe off, the have that nail removed. So no you are not being wimpy!
