Hey, y’all.

I just noticed something strange with my African goose. She flapped her wings, and I saw this small, red spot. After checking it out, I found she has an identical spot on the other wing as well? This has made me more confused than anything. The spots aren’t bleeding, but they seem irritated. It’s in an out-of-reach spot, too, on her “wrists.” Any ideas for what happened? And is there anything I can do for her, or should I just leave it be?

Kind of looks like she’s been using her wings to help her walk/crawl or even get up from laying down. I would observe her for a while and see how she gets around.
That’s an interesting thought.. I haven’t noticed any weird behavior like that, but I will watch for it.

No, I just have one other female Buff goose, and they get along great. I also checked on my Buff, and her wings look fine.
Are they in a secure coop or shed at night? The only other time I’ve seen this is from panic flapping where their wings have impacted walls or other objects after something tried to attack them or otherwise scared them.

Yeah, they have a secure coop. There hasn’t really been any panic flapping here. They do love their flapping zoomies, but they do that in a big, open yard. Not much to whack against.

I see it on my boys more than my girls usually caused here after I have had a try to catch the geese in there pen. They hit the wall and rub them. its always right on the wing joint. when they open there wings inside thats the first thing they bump into the divider wall.
