Hi! We have two chickens that have been laying strangely spotted/patterned eggs. This is their first winter (and ours with chickens) and they've been laying for around 2 months. We are just wanting some knowledge from others who might have some insight. A.k.a. we are just hoping it's a suppliment/environmental issue rather than a health concern.

They have access to oyster shells, an omega sprinkle on their pellets, and an electrolyte water supplement.

This Easter Egger (Bock Bock) does tend to have small speckles, but this last week, there have been some strange "banding." It's been our coldest weather (around 20-25F), but the eggs seem find.

The second photo is from a Faverolle (Princess Laya) who doesn't normally lay spotted eggs. This has been a one time occurrence so far.

Thanks for any thoughts!

This is the beauty of having your eggs come from your own chickens. You get to see the "imperfect" eggs that you would never see from the grocery store!

I wouldn't worry about these at all. Sometimes the ink in the printer misfires a little bit!

One of my EE girls had an egg with a big patch on it in the shape of a chicken! I was so stupid for not taking a picture of it!! :he

Enjoy your chickens!

I get all sorts of strange colors and patterns from my chickens, including some that look kind of like these. Personally, I wouldn't worry unless you see other signs that might point to a potential problem.
