Strangest egg I've seen

Well I've been raising chickens for about 5 years or so and this is a very strange egg that I have to share. My hens are molting, so I am sure that is one explanation for this un holy egg. Also I am pretty sure it is from an older hen. If anyone else has an explanation feel free to share or add some pics. I feel sorry for the chicken that laid this. :-(

Wow, that's one for the books! I think you might be right in suspecting that molting has something to do with it.

Your egg looks similar to the one numbered 13 in the examples.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that hens who have reached the end of their laying days produce eggs like that...I'll keep looking for the link.

Did you cut it open to see what was inside?
