Thank youWhat a pretty gal!![]()
Nice!I collected 3 pullet eggs yesterday so my assumption is that all 3 of my olive egger back cross pullets are laying and they all lay brown. It’s a nice color of brown with some speckles but not a lot a variety between the 3

They weren’t all in the nest boxes so it is certainly possible that it’s really from just 2 birds and I missed on from a previous day.
I do have 3 store bought pullets that are 18 weeks old and should be coming into lay very soon but I don’t think any of these eggs are theirs because the color looks darker than I expect them to lay. The 18 week olds are a cinnamon queen, a buff Orpington, and one unknown breed that was mislabeled as another buff Orpington. She is definitely not an Orpington. My guess is possibly starlight green egger or some similar breed.

Are you going to let her sit or break her? Any ideas for eggs if you do let her?I was out doing chicken chores and noticed that Smoky may be coming down with a case of fowl pox. I don’t see it on any of the others yet. I haven’t noticed any mosquito issues but some of those spots on her comb just don’t look like peck marks to me. I guess I’ll keep an eye on everyone and see how things go

Then when I went to get check on eggs Storm(OE) let out a growl and pecked my hand away. So I picked her up and sure enough she has a broody patch on her belly. This is her first time going broody so I guess I’ll see where she chooses to sleep tonight and proceed from there. I had noticed a lot of black feathers and pine shavings lining one of the nest boxes. So I was getting suspicious about a possible broody.

After I collected the eggs she went outside with the rest of the flock. I think I’m going to collect regularly and try to keep her mind off of eggs for the next couple days. It’s her first time so I don’t know how serious she is yet. I’m not going to encourage the broodyAre you going to let her sit or break her? Any ideas for eggs if you do let her?
