Straw substitute ?

We have a ton of dried ornamental grass we cut back recently. Can we use that in nesting boxes instead of purchasing straw?

You can use anything the hens approve. I've heard of people using dried grass, raked up leaves, hay, straw, pine shavings and so on. I can't picture what ornamental grass looks like but there's only one way to find out if they like it or not, right? Feel free to report back and let us know how it works for you.
